Galápagos children spend their break learning to care for their environment

One of the most important values that we can teach our children is respect and love for nature, and the need for human beings to care for it.
That is why Galápagos Conservancy supported the creation of the Galápagos National Park Directorate’s “Parqueritos in Action Vacation Camp” in San Cristobal and Isabela Island in order to ensure that they get more out of their vacations and have fun while learning to care for the environment.
Wacho Tapia, Galápagos Conservancy’s Director of Conservation, explains “The care of nature is something that we should learn as young children in order to guarantee our well-being, and in Galápagos, it is particularly important that we teach our children to care for and value our home.”
Galápagos Conservancy supports this environmental education program because we see it as an opportunity for children to form positive attitudes and behaviors toward the environment.
With the help of Galápagos National Park Directorate’s environmental education experts, during their academic break, the kids will learn about the importance of their role in being stewards of their beautiful but fragile home.
Niños de Galápagos aprenden a cuidar su entorno en sus vacaciones
Transmitirles a los niños la necesidad de cuidar el ambiente es una tarea necesaria, y uno de los valores más importantes que les podemos enseñar es el amor por la naturaleza.
Es por ello que Galápagos Conservancy apoya la realización del programa Campamento Vacacional Parqueritos en Acción de la Dirección del Parque Nacional Galápagos (DPNG), en las islas, San Cristóbal e Isabela, le sacan más provecho a sus vacaciones y aprenden de forma divertida a cuidar su entorno.
Wacho Tapia, Director de Conservación de Galápagos Conservancy, dijo que “el cuidado del ambiente es algo que debemos aprender desde pequeños para garantizar nuestro bienestar, y en Galápagos es particularmente importante que les enseñemos a nuestros hijos a cuidar y valorar su hogar”.
Como Galápagos Conservancy se apoya este programa de educación ambiental porque estamos convencidos que la interacción con la naturaleza no solo es beneficioso para los niños sino que es una oportunidad para fomentar actitudes y comportamientos responsables con el ambiente.
Con la ayuda expertos en educación ambiental de la DPNG, en sus vacaciones escolares, los niños aprenderán cosas nuevas, entenderán que su papel es importante y podrán desarrollar una conciencia propia sobre la necesidad de proteger la naturaleza.
