Galápagos Conservancy

Charitable IRA Rollover

If You’re 70½ Old or Older

You can make tax-free donations directly from your Individual Retirement Account to Galápagos Conservancy – and help protect one of the most extraordinary ecosystems on Earth.

This type of gift, known as Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), offers unique benefits:

  • Tax-free: Your distribution is excluded from taxable income – even if you don’t itemize deductions.
  • Satisfies RMD: If you’re age 73 or older, your gift can count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
  • Simple and impactful: A QCD allows you to make an immediate difference for endangered species, habitats and the community of Galápagos.

  • You must be 70½ old or older at the time of the gift.

  • Only Traditional IRAs are eligible for QCDs (401(k)s or 403(b)s must first be rolled into a traditional IRA).

Let Us Know

Many IRA distributions arrive with limited donor information. If you’re planning a gift, or if it has a specific purpose, please notify us at ambassador@galapagos.org so we can ensure your contribution is processed quickly and acknowledged properly.

As always, we encourage you to consult your tax advisor to determine how a QCD fits into your financial and charitable giving plans.

Thank you for helping protect the future of the Galápagos.
