According to a semi-annual report prepared by the Galapagos National Park Directorate, a total of 224,755 tourists visited Galapagos in 2015 — a 4% increase compared to 2014. Of these, 154,304 were foreign visitors and 70,451 were nationals.
Another area of growth was in the number of tourists staying in lodging on land, which was 8% higher than in 2014, while accommodations onboard vessels was down 3% compared to the previous year.
According to the annual compound growth rate between 2007 and 2015, Galapagos has experienced tourism growth of 3.72%. In this period, the increase in foreign tourists (3.79%) and national (3.56%) remained at a similar pace.
