The following bibliographies were compiled as parts of larger conservation efforts undertaken by Galapagos Conservancy and our partners. These invaluable resource listings were and continue to be invaluable to GC staff, and we hope that they may also be helpful for anyone conducting their own Galapagos research.
Environmental and Sustainability Education in Natural World Heritage Sites
Commissioned by Galapagos Conservancy, Stanford Professor Dr. Nicole Ardoin and Environmental Education consultant Sharon Ryan developed a literature review of “Environmental and Sustainability Education in Natural World Heritage Sites”. The completed report, which you can download below, describes models of environmental education for sustainable development and other approaches used in K-12 settings in natural World Heritage Sites, with a particular focus on South America.
In the course of writing the comprehensive literature review mentioned above, Nicole and Sharon developed an extensive bibliography of resource materials regarding the topic of environmental and sustainability education. You can download a copy of the bibliography below.
Galapagos Knowledge Management
A long-time Galapagos Conservancy donor, Dan Sherman, reached out to GC staff in 2010 to see how he could complement his monetary contributions with volunteer work. Given his experience in the area of information organization and management, he was the perfect candidate to sift through and compile much-needed background research in the area of Knowledge Management, one of GC’s priority conservation areas over the next several years. Dan developed a thorough literature review of best practices in inter-institutional knowledge management initiatives around the world, which you can download below. Dan’s efforts are instrumental in helping GC and its partners to take our first big steps into this important area of our conservation agenda.
